CIBC announced on Thursday a new multi-year sponsorship agreement with Canada Soccer and the Canadian Premier League (CPL) that reflects the organizations’ shared purpose of further solidifying the relationship with Canadian soccer fans from coast to coast while supporting the growth of the sport at an elementary level throughout the country.

As a sport in this nation continues to sour new heights and unite Canadians, the CIBC team is delighted to support Canada Soccer and the Canadian Premier League. The company looks forward to supporting Canada to make its mark on a game where everyone belongs and is celebrated for who they are and where they come from, said Stephen Forbes, Executive Vice-President, of Purpose, Brand and Corporate Affairs, CIBC.

As the gold medal-winning Women’s National Team prepares for a FIFA World Cup in 2023, the Men’s National Team participates in the FIFA World Cup for the first time in more than 30 years, and the Canadian Premier League enters a milestone fifth season, the genuine enthusiasm of our CIBC team will add significant bench strength to an already passionate fan base, Forbes added.

The sponsorship will see CIBC’S logo notably placed on the Men’s Women’s and Para National Teams’ training apparel and will be displayed proudly at Canada Soccer House in Doha where Friends and Family will have a committed section courtesy of CIBC.

Today is a landmark day for the organization, and this sponsorship is a game-changer for Canada Soccer and its membership across the country, added Earl Cochrane, General Secretary, of Canada Soccer.

Together CIBC and Canada Soccer will engage fans in new and unique ways on and off the pitch. The two organizations will work together to grow the sport through national grassroots activities with CIBC becoming the title sponsor of Canada Soccer’s national Active Start Soccer Fest program.

CIBC is thrilled to support Canadian soccer’s continuous efforts to maintain the momentum of the sport from coast to coast by fostering the expansion of other entities that are essential to the sport in Canada, such as League 1 Canada, and support for the growth of the women’s professional game.

As the sleeve sponsor for every other CPL team and the front-of-jersey sponsor for the league’s newest team, Vancouver FC, the CIBC logo will also appear on upcoming CPL uniforms.

As CIBC, Canada Soccer, and the Canadian Premier League are dedicated to growing the game of soccer in Canada, beginning with young people participating, the sponsorship will have a positive influence on local communities.

The Canadian Premier League is delighted to add CIBC to its expanding list of corporate sponsors. This historic partnership is a strong vote of confidence in our League, our players, our fans, and most importantly, the communities we represent, said Mark Noonan, CEO of Canadian Soccer Business and Commissioner of the CPL. The investment Team CIBC is making will directly benefit the whole Canadian soccer ecosystem, and is looking forward to collaborating with them to make the beautiful game accessible to all stakeholders. The company is grateful to Team CIBC for its unwavering commitment to developing soccer in Canada.
