Emirates Global Aluminium Ramp-up programme to foster entrepreneurship in support of UAE 2071 Centennial Plan

Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest ‘premium aluminium’ producer and the biggest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, on Monday, launched EGA ‘Ramp-up,’ a programme that intends to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs whose businesses will nurture the economy and create new job prospects.

EGA Ramp-Up will offer pragmatic assistance and coaching to entrepreneurs expanding businesses that contribute to the development of human capital, sustainability, innovative technology, and social advancement.

Entrepreneurship is one of the highest significances in the UAE

Entrepreneurship is one of the highest significances of the UAE and an essential pillar of the 2071 Centennial Plan. The National Agenda for Entrepreneurship and SMEs intends to make the country a preferential choice for global entrepreneurship by 2031.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA said that EGA has contributed to economic diversification and growth for over 40 years now and it has both the opportunity and responsibility to support today’s entrepreneurs as they start their businesses. EGA Ramp-up is their response – a programme that will support entrepreneurs to develop businesses that are successful and beneficial to society.

Bin Kalban added that some of these new companies become suppliers to EGA, as it further localizes its own procurement.

The EGA Ramp-up programme

The EGA Ramp-up programme intends to bring together hundreds of aspiring and recently recognized entrepreneurs to a series of informative online courses on effective entrepreneurship. The programme will work even more closely with highly promising start-ups, offering mentoring support from a global network of specialists. Start-ups aligned with EGA’s strategic objectives will be evaluated for their eligibility to receive cash rewards and opportunities for partnership with EGA.

EGA affiliates

EGA has affiliated with C3 to deliver the programme. C3 is a UAE-based social enterprise that supports entrepreneurs across the region to unravel their growth potential and maximize their positive impact on the environment and the community.

About Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)

Emirates Global Aluminium is the world’s largest ‘premium aluminium’ producer and the biggest industrial company in the UAE outside of oil and gas.

EGA operates an alumina refinery in Abu Dhabi, aluminium smelters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea.

Aluminium is amongst the globe’s highly versatile metals, and its global customers transform it into products that make modern-day life possible – from smartphones and building materials to car parts and food packaging.

EGA aluminium is the biggest made-in-the-UAE export after oil and gas, bringing in billions of dollars of export revenue each year contributing to the diversification of the national economy.

Four percent of the world’s aluminium production or almost half of the aluminium produced in the Gulf Cooperation Council is produced by the company, which is one in every twenty-five tonnes of aluminium UAE-manufactured.

Emirates Global Aluminium expansion since the 1970s has taken the UAE from no aluminium production to the fifth-largest aluminium-producing country in the world.

EGA home-based technology facilitates them to be cost competitive and ecologically accountable while meeting its customer’s and society’s requirements.

EGA is owned equally by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company and Investment Corporation of Dubai. It is the leading firm jointly owned by the two Emirates – Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
