Rheinmetall and AeroVironment team up to compete for NATO special forces project.

Rheinmetall and an American producer of (UAS), AeroVironment have joined forces to participate in a NATO special forces initiative. AeroVironment and group subsidiary Rheinmetall Technical Publications GmbH have submitted applications to take part in a procurement programme for a small UAS intended for infantry and special operations use.

The system must have a maximum weight of ten kilogrammes, an operating range of 30 kilometres, be rapid to deploy, be hand launchable, and be capable of working in all situations and conditions.
