Turkish Airlines Expands its Spanish Map With Seville Launch and International Partnerships

With the new direct connection between Turkey and southern Spain, Turkish Airlines is expected to attract both leisure and business travelers interested in experiencing Seville or pursuing commercial opportunities in southern Spain.

Turkish Airlines has added new routes to its network in Southern Europe. It has added Seville as its sixth destination in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, and Bilbao. This move will help connect all regions in Europe more effectively and open up new opportunities for both tourism and business.

Turkish Airlines will operate daily flights between Istanbul Airport and Seville Airport starting September 17, 2025. The new route will offer passengers more travel options and improve regional connectivity.

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines, expressed his excitement about the launch. He explained that it benefits the company in two ways: it provides travellers with a new travel option and supports the airline’s mission to connect cultures and countries through its Istanbul hub.

Seville, the heart of Andalusia, boasts a rich cultural heritage. Its historic roots stretch back to ancient times and the Umayyad period, with its stunning architecture and celebrated Andalusian cuisine.

With the new direct connection between Turkey and southern Spain, Turkish Airlines is expected to attract both leisure and business travelers interested in experiencing Seville or pursuing commercial opportunities in southern Spain.

To promote the new launch, the company is offering special fares for tickets booked by September 2025. Travelers can fly from Istanbul to Seville for as little as $180 or from Seville to Istanbul for as little as 148 euros. These prices are valid for journeys until March 2026. Prices may vary depending on where tickets are booked from offices and travel agencies.

By adding Seville to its Spanish network, the company continues to expand its presence in Europe. The airline is using Istanbul as a major global hub, making it easy for travelers to connect across continents.

Beyond its role as a connecting destination, the company also actively promotes Turkey as a fascinating travel destination, emphasizing its rich historical and natural heritage. From ancient sites like Göbekli Tepe, considered the world’s oldest known man-made structure, to its rich cultural and natural attractions, these have been featured in almost all its marketing campaigns. These efforts help attract visitors to Istanbul, thereby diversifying the visitor base throughout the country, not just in the city itself.

Prof. Bolat is optimistic about the future. He predicts that the number of tourists traveling between Spain and Turkey, which is already among the world’s most visited countries, will continue to rise. He believes that, with the combined efforts of Turkish Airlines and its associated carriers, such as AJet and SunExpress, annual passenger numbers between the two countries could reach 400,000 in the coming years.

Turkish Airlines is also extending its reach into Africa. On the same day as the Seville launch, the airline introduced flights to Port Sudan, Sudan’s second largest city and its main gateway to the Red Sea. This new route will begin with twice-weekly flights and expand to three weekly services by late September 2025.

In other news, Turkish Airlines has signed a partnership with Air Europa, welcoming it as a new shareholder. They wanted to sign the partnership so that it could help Air Europa grow and expand connectivity for travelers. Currently, Air Europa serves over 50 destinations in nearly 30 countries, as well as around 130 codeshare routes. Turkish Airlines, with its network of almost 350 destinations in over 130 countries, will provide even greater global reach. The partnership will be anchored by two key hubs: Madrid-Barajas, connecting Europe and Latin America, and Istanbul Airport, which links Europe to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Oceania.

By launching new routes, such as Seville and Port Sudan, the airline is making international travel more accessible, also supporting the growth of tourism and business.
