Saudi Arabia Expands Infrastructure to Accommodate Tourism Surge

The boost in the tourism sector has pushed the need for the increase in speed in developing the giga projects and tourism destination in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s original goal was to boost tourism and attract 100 million tourists by 2030 which has already been overachieved as per schedule. Hence, Saudi Arabia set a new goal which aimed at attracting 150 million visitors by 2030. A top official of Serco Middle East said that this leads to the need to escalate the pace of expanding giga projects and more tourism destinations in the country.  

Saudi Arabia is taking serious steps and measures to welcome international visitors. Some of the examples of the kingdom’s boost in the tourism sector is the announcement of major events like the Riyadh Expo 2030 and the bid to host the FIFA 2034 World Cup. According to Daniel MacGregor, Chief Growth Officer at Serco Middle East, this demonstrates the country’s strong commitment to welcoming tourism.

MacGregor also mentions why there is a desperate need for Saudi Arabia to speed and accelerate the pace of building their infrastructure. Another question arises on how to cater for the tourism boom that’s coming their way.

It functions in the form of a gateway that delivers the first impression of the country to millions and billions of people that visit the country. Amongst these many preparations need to be done to create a positive perspective of the country.
