Saudi Arabia Expands Infrastructure to Accommodate Tourism Surge

The boost in the tourism sector has pushed the need for the increase in speed in developing the giga projects and tourism destination in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s original goal was to boost tourism and attract 100 million tourists by 2030 which has already been overachieved as per schedule. Hence, Saudi Arabia set a new goal which aimed at attracting 150 million visitors by 2030. A top official of Serco Middle East said that this leads to the need to escalate the pace of expanding giga projects and more tourism destinations in the country.

Saudi Arabia is taking serious steps and measures to welcome international visitors. Some of the examples of the kingdom’s boost in the tourism sector is the announcement of major events like the Riyadh Expo 2030 and the bid to host the FIFA 2034 World Cup. According to Daniel MacGregor, Chief Growth Officer at Serco Middle East, this demonstrates the country’s strong commitment to welcoming tourism.

Serco has a profound understanding of the region and delivers public services to customers on behalf of governments, semi-governments and large private corporations. Serco’s operations in the Middle East cover defense, space, healthcare, justice and migration, transportation, and government services.

Serco’s services expand in many areas like facilities maintenance, asset management and operations. They also provide core operational services such as security, cleaning, pest control and waste management.

The main agenda of the work that has been done is to prepare in all forms to welcome international visitors that travel from new markets and different backgrounds. The crux is to be ready for big groups to such events, and must be completed ahead of the events themselves, said MacGregor.

MacGregor also mentions why there is a desperate need for Saudi Arabia to speed and accelerate the pace of building their infrastructure. Another question arises on how to cater for the tourism boom that’s coming their way.

Transformation of the airport infrastructure should be at top priority as it serves as the ‘shop window’. It functions in the form of a gateway that delivers the first impression of the country to millions and billions of people that visit the country. Amongst these many preparations need to be done to create a positive perspective of the country.

The boost in the tourism sector has pushed the need for the increase in speed in developing the giga projects and tourism destination in Saudi Arabia. Hence, the pace of transformation is evident.

On a positive note these areas will provide and cater to a varied set of tourists that are diverse in their needs. In terms of sports, entertainment or cultural experiences and also have their own distinct contributions to make to the kingdom’s economy and society.

NEOM is an urban area built by Saudi Arabia and is known to be the land of the future and promises to be a hub of innovation. Its ambition is to redefine livability, business and conservation at its heart.

The Red Sea Development project is anticipated to dramatically boost the kingdom’s GDP, create thousands of employment, and establish Saudi Arabia as a top-tier sustainable vacation destination.

The King Salman Park is the creation that highlights Saudi’s progress of the Vision 2030 with a 360-view. There also requires focus on introducing green available spaces that can add to the overall happiness of those who both live in Saudi and those who pass through as visitors.

The private and public sectors have collaborated to enhance the progress. The regulatory reforms which are designed to facilitate business operations are implemented. These actions are proof of the government’s commitment to mold these partnerships. These collaborations promote innovation, efficiency and bring in global and local expertise to the tourism sector to keep the developments sustainable and economical.

The businesses and the government work together in order to achieve ambitious tourism targets. They also help the government set up Saudi for long-term future success on the tourism stage.
