Qatar Airways, Iberia, and British Airways come together to form the world’s largest airline joint business

Qatar Airways’ and Iberia’s extended service will provide additional operations daily on the route providing unmatched connectivity between the Iberian peninsula and important markets in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia

The national carriers of Qatar, Qatar Airways, and Britain’s British Airways currently operate the world’s largest global airline joint venture that covers 60 countries. Iberia, the national carrier of Spain is joining the British Airways and Qatar Airways partnership this month which will transform connectivity for international travelers. Iberia, as a result of the joint business,  will add a new daily service from Madrid Barajas International Airport and flights to Hamad International Airport in December this year.

The Joint Airline Venture

With the new joint business between the airlines, the passengers will be able to connect more than 200 destinations through these airlines. Qatar Airways’ and Iberia’s extended service will provide additional operations daily on the route providing unmatched connectivity between the Iberian peninsula and important markets in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. 
This partnership expansion will provide customers with 288 seats in Economy and Business cabins.

From a wide geographic range of destinations, fares, flight schedules, and connectivity through London, Madrid, and Doha, the partnership provides customers with more options to choose from than ever. The joint venture will also provide a larger selection of award-winning products like Iberia’s Business Class, Qatar Airways’ Qsuite, and British Airways’ Club Suite. 
Sean Doyle, British Airways’ chairman stated that the company expanded the partnership with Qatar Airways with the addition of 42 countries.

“I’m so pleased to see it growing even further as we welcome Iberia on board. We’re committed to offering our customers as much choice as possible, and working so closely with our partners in Madrid and Doha connects British Airways to more than 200 destinations globally,” stated Sean Doyle.

Along with other benefits, members of Iberia Plus, British Airways Executive Club, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club can collect and spend using Avios, their common currency. The Loyalty members will be able to transfer Avios and combine their balances to claim rewards offered by each program. 

The travellers from Portugal and Spain will be able to connect to new destinations for both business and leisure purposes. Tourist destinations such as Seychelles and Maldives; adventure spots like Nepal and Tanzania along with places like Thailand, Singapore, India, and Oman become more accessible with a wide panel of choices available.  
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive stated that the passengers will have more opportunities to connect to different destinations across Iberia, Qatar Airways, and British Airways’s networks.

“At Qatar Airways, we believe in connecting travelers to their destinations of choice, and our recent enhancement to the highly successful joint business with British Airways, includes the addition of another oneworld member, Iberia”, he said. 
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker also stated that this collaborative effort comes as a result of the commitment the company puts forward to improving Qatar Airways’ offering to the customers and providing them with top services in the industry.               

Iberia CEO, Fernando Candela, stated that Joining the QJB with British Airways and Qatar Airways is excellent news for the firm’s customers.  The airline is also looking forward to the launch of the Madrid-Doha route. “Through QJB hubs in London and Doha, we are building the much-desired bridge between Spain and more than 200 destinations in Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, and Africa, and offering new opportunities for travelers in both directions”, stated Fernando Candela
